Dacor Cooktops: What We Check First
Dacor builds cooktops in two very different technologies. The gas models use sealed burners with electronic spark ignition, often with lit control knobs, and they range from 30-inch units to wide professional-style rangetops. The induction models use copper coils under a glass surface, driven by power electronics that create a magnetic field to heat the pan directly. A clicking gas burner and a dead induction zone have almost nothing in common, so the first step is knowing which you own.
- Moisture in a spark switch causing nonstop burner clicking
- Cracked ceramic igniter leaving one gas burner unlit
- Induction cooling fan blocked, triggering overheat shutdowns
- Induction power board failure following a storm surge
The full explanation, including what you can safely check yourself and when repair beats replacement, is in our Dacor cooktop repair guide.
Counter-Mounted Cooktops in Remodeled Kitchens
Separate cooktops are less common here than in the big subdivisions to the west, but plenty of Monroe kitchens were remodeled with one, and newer homes around town sometimes have them too. Electric glass-tops lose radiant elements and infinite switches; gas cooktops have igniters that keep clicking or spark without lighting, often after a boilover soaks the burner.
In older Monroe homes, a cooktop may be connected to wiring or a gas line that predates the cabinets around it. That does not usually cause failures, but it can affect how the technician gets underneath and whether anything looks unsafe. We will point out concerns and leave gas line and wiring changes to the right trades.
With the cooktop off and cool, dry any spills, reseat burner caps and check the breaker. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas utility or 911. Our technician tests the elements, switches, igniters and spark module, then explains and prices the repair before starting.
