Why does my Asko condenser dryer take so long?

Lint that gets past the main filter gradually coats the condenser, so moist air stays in the drum. Clean the filters after every load and rinse the condenser as your manual describes. If drying is still slow, a sensor, element or fan fault may be involved and we can test them.

Our Marvin dryer takes two cycles, but the heat seems fine. What else could it be?

A condenser model keeps the air inside a closed loop, passes it over a condenser to pull out moisture, and either collects the water in a container or sends it to a drain. Both rely on clean, unrestricted airflow to dry clothes in a reasonable time.

Distance to the Outside Wall

Bigger floor plans often put the laundry room in the middle of the second floor, so the dryer's exhaust duct may wind through joists and bends before it exits. Every extra foot and elbow slows airflow. Lint builds up, drying times stretch, and the dryer's safety devices start tripping. Pollen-heavy spring weeks and humid summers only add to the load.

Begin with the lint screen and the outside hood. With the dryer running, the hood flap should open firmly; if it barely moves, the duct needs cleaning by someone equipped to do it. A gas dryer that will not heat should never be opened at the gas connection, and if you notice a gas odor, get everyone outside and call the gas utility or 911.
