About Asko Dryer Repair
Asko's compact dryers come in vented and condenser versions, and that distinction drives almost every diagnosis. A vented Asko pushes moist air outside through a duct like a conventional dryer. A condenser model keeps the air inside a closed loop, passes it over a condenser to pull out moisture, and either collects the water in a container or sends it to a drain. Both rely on clean, unrestricted airflow to dry clothes in a reasonable time.
The most frequent complaint is long drying times. On vented models it is often a crushed or lint-packed duct, especially in closet installations where the dryer is pushed tight against the wall. On condenser models, lint gets past the filter over time and coats the condenser, so the machine runs hot and long without removing moisture. Beyond airflow, we see failed heating elements, temperature and moisture sensors that misread, worn drum belts, and door switches that no longer register a closed door.
With the dryer unplugged, start by cleaning every lint filter the model has, including any secondary filter near the door. On a condenser model, check your manual for how to remove and rinse the condenser, and empty the water container if yours has one. On a vented model, look behind the stack for a kinked or flattened duct. Spring pollen and summer dust load filters faster, so cleaning more often in those months helps.
We test the element, thermal protection, sensors, motor and belt, and on condenser models we check the condenser, the pump and drain path, and the air seals. Clothes coming out damp but warm usually means an airflow or condensing problem, while cold clothes suggest a heating fault, and we confirm which before ordering anything.
Most Asko dryer repairs are worth doing. Elements, sensors, belts and switches are moderate jobs. A failed control board on an older dryer is the main case where we discuss replacement, since some Asko parts are imported and can take time to arrive.
Where Asko Dryers Tend to Fail
- Lint-coated condenser slowing drying on condenser models
- Restricted or crushed vent duct behind stacked units
- Heating element or thermal protection open circuit
- Moisture or temperature sensor ending cycles too early
