About Asko Dishwasher Repair
An Asko dishwasher is built around a stainless steel tub and a large amount of stainless hardware underneath it, which is part of why these machines run so quietly and last so long. The design also means the tub itself almost never fails. When an Asko stops cleaning, draining or latching properly, the cause is usually one of a handful of serviceable parts around the sump, the door or the base.
The most common complaint is water left standing in the bottom after a cycle. Asko uses a filter set in the sump that the owner is expected to remove and rinse, and when food and grease build up there, the drain pump has to work against a blockage until it slows or jams. Other frequent faults are worn door springs and cords that let the door drop open, inlet valves that weaken, and moisture in the base tray that trips the leak-protection float and shuts the machine down.
Before you call, turn the dishwasher off at its switch or breaker. Then you can pull out the sump filters, rinse them under the tap, and check that nothing like a broken glass shard or a fruit label is sitting at the pump opening. Look at the drain hose under the sink for a kink, and if the dishwasher shares a drain with a disposer that was just installed, confirm the knockout plug was removed. If the machine stops and will not restart, a wet base tray may be the reason; leave that to us, because the source of the water still needs to be found.
On a visit we check the pump, the inlet valve, the heater circuit and the door assembly, and we test the float switch and look for the source of any water that reached the base. If you live on a private well, we also check the inlet screen for sediment, since grit can hold the inlet valve partly open.
Asko dishwashers are usually worth repairing. Pumps, valves, springs and switches are reasonable repairs on a machine whose tub will outlast them. The harder calls are an older model needing a control board that has become scarce, or a unit with several worn parts at once, and we explain those choices before any work begins.
Where Asko Dishwashers Tend to Fail
- Clogged sump filter set restricting flow to the drain pump
- Drain pump jammed by glass, seeds or labels
- Door balance springs and cords worn or snapped
- Leak-protection float tripped by water in the base tray
