Hotpoint Dishwasher Repair

Hotpoint dishwashers are basic built-in models from GE Appliances, usually with a plastic tub, front-mounted push-button controls and a single wash arm system fed by a circulation pump. They are common in rentals and builder-grade kitchens across the region. The parts list is short, which keeps repairs manageable, but the plastic tub and simple filtration mean these machines are sensitive to food debris and installation details.

The complaint we hear most often is standing water in the bottom after a cycle. That is usually a clogged filter or sump, a drain hose kinked under the sink, a garbage disposal knockout plug that was never removed, or a drain pump that has jammed on glass or a seed. Dishes coming out gritty often points to a blocked spray arm or a weak circulation pump. A dishwasher that will not start may have a worn door latch switch, and one that will not fill may have a failed inlet valve or a clogged inlet screen.

Some checks are safe for owners. Pull the bottom rack and clean whatever filter and sump area your model exposes, then spin the spray arms by hand to make sure they turn freely. Check the drain hose loop under the sink. Homes on private wells in outlying parts of Union or Cabarrus County can see sediment build up in the inlet valve screen, which slows filling and leaves dishes poorly washed. Turn off power at the breaker before pulling the kick panel.
