What do the d80, d90 and d95 codes on my LG dryer mean?

They are Flow Sense warnings that the exhaust vent is restricted, with the higher numbers indicating more blockage. The dryer can still run, but it works harder and dries slower. Clean the lint path and the full vent run to the outside, and have the vent inspected if the warning keeps returning.

Our Marvin dryer takes two cycles, but the heat seems fine. What else could it be?

Electric units heat with an element; gas models use an igniter, flame sensor and valve coils. Bigger floor plans often put the laundry room in the middle of the second floor, so the dryer's exhaust duct may wind through joists and bends before it exits. Every extra foot and elbow slows airflow. Lint builds up, drying times stretch, and the dryer's safety devices start tripping. Pollen-heavy spring weeks and humid summers only add to the load.

Begin with the lint screen and the outside hood. With the dryer running, the hood flap should open firmly; if it barely moves, the duct needs cleaning by someone equipped to do it. A gas dryer that will not heat should never be opened at the gas connection, and if you notice a gas odor, get everyone outside and call the gas utility or 911.
