My GE range display is blank but some burners still work. Why?

On some ranges the cooktop controls work independently of the oven's electronic board. A failed board, a burned terminal block connection or a tripped breaker leg can kill the oven and display while leaving some burners working. We test each to find the cause.

Is it worth repairing an older range in my Rock Hill house?

GE Ranges: What We Check First

GE ranges span basic freestanding electric and gas models through GE Profile slide-ins and Café dual-fuel and induction ranges. Many share a common electronic oven control with GE's F-code diagnostics, and Profile and Café models add convection, air fry, Wi-Fi and in some cases a griddle or a second oven. Because the cooktop and oven share a cabinet and wiring, range-level problems can affect both, and we treat the range as one system.

One appliance, two systems

A range combines a cooktop and an oven, so a fault on one side does not mean the whole unit is done. A gas range with good burners and a weak oven igniter, or an electric range with one bad element and a sound control, is often a reasonable repair. We look at the whole range so you know what you are investing in.

Older Rock Hill houses sometimes have a range plugged into an older receptacle or connected with an aging gas flex line. We check those connections when we pull the range out, and we tell you if anything should be replaced by an electrician or plumber.

Anti-tip brackets and newer ranges
