Each zone relies on its own sensor and air circulation, so a failed fan or sensor in that zone is the usual cause. Check that bottles are not blocking the vent at the back of the zone. If it stays warm, the fan and sensor need testing.

Thor Wine Coolers: What We Check First

Thor's wine coolers are mostly under-counter units built to sit flush in cabinetry, with stainless-framed glass doors, LED lighting and, on many models, two independently controlled temperature zones. They are compressor-cooled rather than thermoelectric, and because they are installed under a countertop they breathe through a vent at the front base. That vent is the single most important thing to understand about how these units fail.

Under-counter coolers and blocked airflow

Most built-in wine coolers breathe through a front grille at the toe kick. If that grille is blocked by a rug, dust or pet hair, the cooler struggles in summer and the compressor or fan runs constantly. Freestanding units pushed into a cabinet opening have the same problem from the back. A cooler kept in a hot garage or a sunny bonus room will rarely hold a steady temperature.

Clean the front grille, check that the door closes against a soft, even gasket, and give it a day after any temperature change. If it still drifts, the technician checks the fan, thermostat or sensor, controls and cooling system. Some thermoelectric models are better replaced than repaired, and we will say so. Dual-zone units get each zone tested separately, since one side can drift while the other holds.
