Why does my Bosch induction cooktop turn itself off?

Automatic shutoff often means the electronics are overheating because the cooling fan is blocked or failing. Wet touch controls can also cause the cooktop to switch off. Check the intake below the counter and keep the controls dry; if it continues, schedule a diagnosis.

One burner on my Locust gas cooktop will not light. Is it the igniter?

Possibly, or the burner cap may be out of position or the ports clogged. Dry and reseat the cap first. If it still will not light, we test the igniter and spark module.

Burners, elements and planning the trip

On a propane or natural gas cooktop, the usual troubles are burners that will not light, light weakly or keep clicking, caused by wet or dirty igniters, misaligned caps or a failing spark module. Glass-top electric cooktops lose individual elements or switches, and induction boards can be damaged by storm surges. A cracked glass top should not be used until it is replaced, since spills can reach the wiring underneath.

Dry and reseat burner caps, check the breaker and confirm the propane tank has fuel. If you smell gas, shut it off, leave and call your supplier or 911.
