Let the cooktop cool, then remove and clean the burner cap and head, clear the ports and make sure the cap is seated properly. The Power Burner can be sensitive to misalignment. If the flame stays uneven, the burner may need inspection.

Built-In Cooktops in Rural Kitchens

Electric models, coil or glass-top, usually fail at an element, a limiter or the switch behind a knob. Dry any spills around the knobs and burners with the cooktop off and cool, and reseat the burner caps. Check the breaker, since storms can trip it. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your propane supplier or 911; never work on the supply line.
