Half my Samsung electric range works and half does not. What causes that?

Often one leg of the double-pole breaker has tripped or a terminal block connection behind the range has burned, so only part of the 240-volt supply reaches the range. Check that both breaker handles are fully on. If they are, a technician should inspect the terminal block and wiring.

Samsung Ranges: What We Check First

A Samsung range packs a cooktop, an oven and a fair amount of electronics into one chassis, and the line spans freestanding electric, slide-in gas, induction and dual-fuel models with a gas cooktop over an electric oven. Many have convection, air fry modes, Wi-Fi control and the Flex Duo divider. Because everything shares one control board and one power supply, a single failure can take out functions on both the top and the oven, which is why we look at the range as a system instead of treating the oven and burners as separate appliances.

Slide-ins, touch controls and storm surges

Slide-in and front-control ranges with touch panels and convection fans are common in the newer kitchens here. Those controls are sensitive to the voltage spikes that come with summer thunderstorms, and a range that beeps, shows an error or will not respond after a storm may need only a power reset, or may have a damaged board or keypad. Try turning the range's breaker off for a minute and back on. Check that the anti-tip bracket is engaged and that the range has not been pulled forward, which can strain the gas line or power cord. If the oven or a burner still fails, note which parts work and which do not before you call.
