Hotpoint Ranges: What We Check First

The Hotpoint electric range is one of the most common appliances in rental kitchens and starter homes around the region. It combines four surface units, either coil or radiant glass-top, with a bake-and-broil oven, all fed by a 240-volt circuit through a terminal block at the back. The controls on most models are a mix of infinite switches for the burners and a basic electronic or mechanical oven control. Because the whole range shares one power feed, some faults affect everything at once.

Slide-ins, touch controls and storm surges

Slide-in and front-control ranges with touch panels and convection fans are common in the newer kitchens here. Those controls are sensitive to the voltage spikes that come with summer thunderstorms, and a range that beeps, shows an error or will not respond after a storm may need only a power reset, or may have a damaged board or keypad.
