Why does my Dacor burner relight itself or click when the flame looks fine?

The reignition system watches for a flame at the burner. If the cap is crooked, the burner is dirty or a switch is wet, it may misread the flame and keep sparking. Reseating and drying the parts often fixes it; if not, we test the switch and module.

The receptacle under one burner on my Lancaster stove looks burned. Can I keep using it?

No. Stop using that burner, because a damaged receptacle can overheat and harm the wiring. We can replace the receptacle and element and check the switch, and we quote the work first.

Our stove came from a house on natural gas, and our Lancaster farmhouse runs on propane. What do we need?

Keeping a long-serving stove cooking

Electric coil stoves in Lancaster's older homes tend to fail in predictable ways. A coil that stays cold may be burned out, the receptacle under it may be scorched or loose, or the infinite switch behind the knob may be worn. Turn the stove off, let it cool and reseat the coil firmly. If the receptacle looks melted or blackened, leave that burner off until it is replaced.
