The spark module that lights the burners and the glow-bar igniter in the oven both need household power. Without it, the oven will not light and the burners will not spark. During an outage, a burner can sometimes be lit carefully with a long match, but the oven will not run.

Both are built on basic Whirlpool designs with mechanical knobs and a small electronic or analog clock and oven control. One ZIP, many kinds of range

A Clover farmhouse may have a propane range or an older electric one, while a Lake Wylie kitchen might have a slide-in dual-fuel model. Each fails differently.
