All my Dacor burners click when I turn one knob. Is that normal?

Yes, on many gas cooktops every igniter sparks together when any burner is lit, then stops once the flame is established. Constant clicking after the flame catches is not normal. That usually means moisture in a switch or a failing switch or module.

One burner on my Harrisburg island cooktop keeps clicking after it lights. What causes that?

Usually moisture or residue on the igniter, or a burner cap that is not seated flat. Let it dry fully and reseat the cap. If the clicking continues, the switch or spark module may be at fault, which we can test and replace.

Can you replace the cracked glass on a cooktop in my Concord kitchen?

Dacor Cooktops: What We Check First

Dacor builds cooktops in two very different technologies. The gas models use sealed burners with electronic spark ignition, often with lit control knobs, and they range from 30-inch units to wide professional-style rangetops. The induction models use copper coils under a glass surface, driven by power electronics that create a magnetic field to heat the pan directly. A clicking gas burner and a dead induction zone have almost nothing in common, so the first step is knowing which you own.

Island cooktops and remodeled counters

Kitchens in the newer subdivisions often put a gas or glass cooktop in the island, with the wall oven elsewhere. Gas burners that click without lighting usually have spill residue on the igniter or a misaligned burner cap. Radiant glass tops more often lose a single element, a switch or the hot-surface indicator. Induction units add a power board and cooling fan that can fail after a surge.

In older Concord homes, cooktops are sometimes squeezed into counters cut for a different model, and wiring or the gas connection can be tight underneath. Before calling, make sure burner caps are seated, wipe the igniters dry, and check the breaker. If you smell gas, turn the burner off, leave, and call the gas utility or 911.
