Not necessarily. Many quiet premium dishwashers dry with less heat and depend heavily on rinse aid. Refill the rinse aid, try the extra-dry option if your model has one, and if dishes are still wet and cold at the end, we test the heater and its controls.

After a thunderstorm my Harrisburg dishwasher's lights flash and it won't start. What should I do?

Turn off its breaker for a full minute, then restore power and try a short cycle. Many controls recover from a surge that way. If the error returns, a board or sensor may have been damaged, and we can test it during a visit.

Newer models share much of their platform with Samsung's premium dishwashers, so the wash system, pumps and electronics follow a familiar design, while the panels, trim and some controls stay specific to Dacor.

Drains, disposers and storm-tripped controls

Most dishwashers here drain through the garbage disposer or a high loop under the sink. A disposer installed without its knockout plug removed, a clogged air gap, or a drain hose kinked behind the cabinet will leave water in the tub. Inside the machine, the filter at the bottom collects food and glass bits, and a neglected one causes poor cleaning long before anything breaks.

A flicker of power can leave a newer dishwasher frozen mid-cycle or flashing an error. Turn the dishwasher's breaker off for a minute, turn it back on, and run a short cycle.
