Usually the filter is packed with debris or something has jammed the drain pump. Clean the filter first and check that the drain hose and disposal connection are clear. If water still sits after a cycle, the pump needs testing.

Why does my Mount Pleasant dishwasher leave orange stains on the racks?

Well water inside the dishwasher

A dishwasher fills through a small inlet valve with a fine screen, and on well water that screen can clog with sediment until the machine underfills and cleans poorly. Iron leaves orange or brown stains on racks and the tub, and minerals form a film on glasses. Over time, grit wears the valve seat and the wash pump seal, which can lead to leaks around the base.

Clean the filter in the bottom of the tub and check the spray arms for blocked holes. If the house loses water when the well pump loses power, a dishwasher that was mid-cycle may show an error afterward; reset it at the breaker and run a short cycle. If water appears under the door, turn off the supply and power.
