Not necessarily. Many quiet premium dishwashers dry with less heat and depend heavily on rinse aid. Refill the rinse aid, try the extra-dry option if your model has one, and if dishes are still wet and cold at the end, we test the heater and its controls.

Why does my Mount Pleasant dishwasher leave orange stains on the racks?

That is usually iron from well water. It can stain racks and the tub and sometimes contributes to valve wear. We repair the dishwasher side, and a water treatment company can address the iron at the well.

Newer models share much of their platform with Samsung's premium dishwashers, so the wash system, pumps and electronics follow a familiar design, while the panels, trim and some controls stay specific to Dacor.

Well water inside the dishwasher

A dishwasher fills through a small inlet valve with a fine screen, and on well water that screen can clog with sediment until the machine underfills and cleans poorly. Iron leaves orange or brown stains on racks and the tub, and minerals form a film on glasses. Over time, grit wears the valve seat and the wash pump seal, which can lead to leaks around the base.

Clean the filter in the bottom of the tub and check the spray arms for blocked holes. If the house loses water when the well pump loses power, a dishwasher that was mid-cycle may show an error afterward; reset it at the breaker and run a short cycle. If water appears under the door, turn off the supply and power.

The technician tests the inlet valve, pump, heater, float and control, cleans what can be cleaned and quotes before replacing parts. We can tell you when a whole-house filter would extend the life of the repair, though that work belongs to a water treatment company.
