Hoshizaki Refrigerator Repair

Hoshizaki is better known for ice, but its stainless reach-in refrigerators and prep tables, including the Steelheart line, are common in restaurants that already trust the brand. They use a self-contained condensing unit, a fan-forced evaporator, and an electronic controller with a display that shows cabinet temperature and can flag certain faults. Doors are heavy stainless with self-closing hinges and replaceable gaskets.

Most warm-cabinet calls on these units come from the same few places. The condenser coil collects grease and dust in a working kitchen, raising head pressure and lengthening run time. Evaporator and condenser fan motors wear out after long, continuous service. Gaskets lose their seal at the corners, letting humid air frost the coil. Less often, a temperature sensor drifts and the controller holds the cabinet at the wrong setpoint.

Before calling, turn the unit off at the switch or breaker and look at the condenser through the louvers. A vacuum and soft brush can lift surface dust. Check that nothing blocks the evaporator fan inside the cabinet, since overpacked shelves are a frequent cause of warm spots. Close each door on a sheet of paper to test the gasket. Note any message on the controller display, which helps our diagnosis, and jot down when the warm readings started and whether they follow busy service periods or happen overnight too.

We verify the cabinet temperature independently, then check fan operation, compressor current and the temperature drop across the evaporator coil. If the readings point to the controller or sensor, we test those directly. You get the findings and the price before we replace a part.
