About Thor Oven / Range Repair
Thor's wall ovens are electric single and double units, typically with true convection, a large oven cavity and the same stainless styling as the brand's ranges. Each cavity has a bake element, a broil element and a rear convection element with its fan, governed by a control board that relies on a temperature sensor mounted inside the oven. A cooling fan above the cavity keeps the electronics from overheating during long bakes.
Elements are the classic failure. A bake or broil element can burn open, sometimes with a visible blister or a small flash when it goes. Convection fan motors wear out and start to squeal or stop, leaving the convection modes heating unevenly. Temperature sensors drift and make the oven run hot or cold against the display. On the electronics side, relays on the control board can stick or fail, and summer storm surges are hard on these boards. Heavy doors also put strain on hinges over time, leading to a door that will not close square.
Check the basics first. Wall ovens run on a double-pole breaker, and a half-tripped breaker can leave the display lit while the elements stay cold, so switch it fully off and back on. Look for a control lock or a demo mode that may have been set by accident. If one element visibly glows and another does not, note which mode you were using. Do not run a self-clean cycle, on models that have one, to fix a heating problem; the high heat can finish off a weak part.
Our technician measures each element, the convection fan and the sensor, then checks whether the control board is sending power to the right component in each mode. That separates a part failure from a board failure, which matters because the parts differ widely in cost and lead time. We also check door alignment and the gasket, since heat escaping from a sagging door looks like a temperature fault.
Elements, sensors, fans and hinges are well worth replacing on a Thor wall oven, and pulling the unit from the cabinet is part of the job we plan for. A board replacement is often still sensible. If the unit is out of warranty and parts are slow, we tell you the wait up front.
