About LG Oven / Range Repair
LG ovens appear in freestanding and slide-in ranges and in wall ovens, and the most talked-about feature is ProBake Convection, which puts a heating element right around the rear convection fan to deliver more even heat. Other models include air fry modes, InstaView windows and EasyClean, a short, low-heat cleaning cycle that uses water in the oven floor. Many also offer full self-clean, which reaches much higher temperatures.
The most common LG oven issue is slow preheating or failure to reach temperature. On electric models, a burned-out bake element or a failed convection element can be responsible, and if the convection fan stops, ProBake cooking turns uneven. On gas models, a weakened hot-surface igniter may glow without drawing enough current to open the valve, so the oven never lights or lights after a long delay. Sensor drift makes baking results unpredictable, and some owners see control lockups after a full self-clean or a power outage.
Owners can check whether the breaker is fully on and, for a gas model, whether the cooktop burners light, confirming gas supply. Make sure the oven is not in a Sabbath or delayed-start setting. Remember that EasyClean only softens light soil; it is not meant to handle heavy, baked-on grease, and a cooler cleaning cycle leaving residue is normal rather than a fault. If the door stays locked after cleaning, let it cool and power it off at the breaker briefly.
We measure the bake, broil and convection elements, test the convection fan motor and the temperature sensor, and check igniter current draw on gas units. If the controls are acting up, we check the relays on the main board and the touch panel. We also look for scorched wiring behind the oven, especially after frequent high-heat self-clean cycles.
Elements, igniters, fans and sensors are all good LG oven repairs. Board replacements are more expensive but still usually reasonable for a wall oven or slide-in range, given the cost of fitting a replacement.
Where LG Oven / Ranges Tend to Fail
- ProBake convection element or fan failed, cooking turns uneven
- Gas oven igniter glowing but drawing too little current to light
- Temperature sensor drift causing overbaking or underbaking
- Control lockup or relay failure after a high-heat self-clean
